Cisco Features ICD's IT Academy Program for International Day of Persons with Disabilities

For International Day of Persons with Disabilities, Cisco published their latest blog that spotlights IT training programs working with individuals with disabilities across the globe, including ICD's IT Academy! Through a partnership with Cisco, ICD provides a six-month intensive cybersecurity training program that prepares students for CCNA Security certification and careers in the technology sector.

In the piece, ICD’s IT Academy Instructor, Triet Le, said,

Our students, staff, and partners have proven up to the task as we have graduated our most successful cohort yet, during the pandemic... Remote learning proved a test that we excelled at. The students were up to the new experience of connecting to a remote classroom from a safe but isolated space. This will serve them well in a job market that increasingly offers opportunities to work remotely.

EY Presentation at IT Academy

EY came and presented to 38 ICD students on October 10th. The presenters, John and Logan, gave tips and techniques for time management.

The presenters talked about time management best practices in relation to corporate and office environments. The techniques were useful to students from all different backgrounds. Some students even requested a copy of the presentation. Thank you so much to John and Logan!

IT Academy Cohort I Graduates Paid it Forward!

Three of our Cohort I graduates held a panel discussion to share internship best practices with Cohort II students. Nigel, Jonathan, and Marc held nothing back while speaking of their successes, challenges, and tips for a rewarding internship experience. It was great to see how much our graduates have come full circle and how excited they were to be able to 'pass the torch' to their peers in tech!

IT Academy Employer Networking Event

We kicked-off our second networking event for our Cohort II students preparing for internships and employment opportunities.  We hosted our current employer partners while welcoming a few newcomers to the fold such as SMBC, Soho Dragon, Con Edison, Disability Solutions and Rangam.
