Important Tax Incentives for Employers to Hire Youth!

Urban Youth Jobs/New York Youth Jobs Program

The New York Youth Jobs Program encourages businesses to hire unemployed, disadvantaged youth, ages 16 - 24, who live in New York State. The legislature and the Governor have re-authorized the program in 2018 for an additional five years. Under the 2017/2018 Executive Budget, there will be $20 million available to businesses hiring youth!

What does this mean for businesses?

For program year 2018, businesses can earn tax credits of up to $7,500 for eligible youth starting work between January 1, 2018 and December 31, 2018. Your business must be certified to participate in the program. The process is easy.

To qualify for the tax credit, your business must be certified by the NYS Department of Labor. An application for certification must be received by the Department between January 1, 2018 and November 30, 2018. And to be eligible for certification, your business must be in good standing and located in New York State.
