Welcome to ICD’s Fully Accessible GED Test Center

ICD is proud to launch the first-ever fully accessible GED Test Center in New York City for individuals with disabilities.

Today, most job postings require (at minimum) a high school diploma. For individuals with disabilities who did not complete their high school education, there is now a test center in New York City dedicated to offering all accommodations. This includes crucial assistive technology to create a fair test-taking environment for those seeking to earn their GED and gain access to greater employment opportunities.

Accessibility and Accommodations

It is important to note that ICD does NOT review and approve accommodations. The New York State Education Department’s (NYSED) High School Equivalency Office contracts with the GED Testing Service, which Pearson administers. And ONLY they determine what services and accommodations are permitted. However, ICD’s GED Test Center can help you request for accommodations. Please contact us and we will help you complete your application and gather the required documentation.

Use the green button below to download GED Testing Services’ frequently asked questions regarding accommodations.

How to Apply for Accommodations

Use the green button below to download step-by-step instructions on how to apply for accommodations.

Please note that not all disorders and conditions will result in an accommodation. Having been diagnosed with an impairment or disability does not automatically mean that you will qualify for an accommodation. Each case is carefully reviewed by individuals who have expertise in the area in which you indicate you have an impairment.

Below is a list of the items from the Pearson VUE Comfort Aid List that are available at ICD’s GED test center:

  • Cough drops

  • Eye drops

  • Eye patches

  • Glucose tablets

  • Inhalers

  • Medical foot stools

  • Ear plugs

  • Nasal drops

  • Cushions
